Subsidiary, Solidarity and the Importance of Catholic Missionary Work in Haiti

Guided by the Catholic missionary principles of subsidiary and solidarity, Deacon Moynihan will discuss the role of The Haitian Project in creating a better future for Haiti and describe the life and responsibilities of a THP volunteer. Volunteers are on the front lines of addressing Haiti's greatest obstacles by seeking locally sustainable solutions that are executed in solidarity with those we seek to help.

Program Details

10 month teaching positions Available beginning August 2014 Louverture Cleary School, The Haitian Project's tuition-free, Catholic boarding school. (Grades 7 - 13) Qualifications: BA or BS degree and a commitment to catholic social teaching. Background in teaching or education is not required

About Deacon Moynihan

Deacon Patrick Moynihan has been living and working in Haiti with his family since 1996 as president of The Haitian Project (THP) and head of its Louverture Cleary School, a tuition-free, Catholic, co-educational secondary boarding school outside Port-au-Prince that educates the future leaders of Haiti. Deacon Moynihan is committed to building the education and leadership of Haiti from within. With 16 years of experience on the ground, Deacon Moynihan is an expert commentator of Haiti's needs both before and after the earthquake.
