Lauren Benz Publishes Paper in ACS Nano
Lauren Benz published a paper in ACS Nano on the visualization of a coupling reaction intermediate on titanium dioxide. Benzaldehyde couples to form stilbene over a reduced titanium dioxide surface in a reductive process which requires the help of subsurface titanium interstitials. Scanning tunneling microscope images combined with density functional theory calculations reveal the underlying mechanism of this process.
