Porterfield and Tahmassebi Publish Article

Will Porterfield ('09) and Debbie Tahmassebi, Ph.D., recently published an article in Bioorganic and Medicinal Chemistry Letters (W. Porterfield, D. C. Tahmassebi / Bioorg. Med. Chem. Lett. 19 (2009) 111–113). 

The manuscript details a synthesis that Porterfield has been working on for several years.  The synthesis of dideoxytC, a fluorescent dideoxynucleoside, may be useful as a structural probe because it retains a high fluorescence over a large pH range. This work will be presented by Porterfield at his department senior seminar and his honors senior seminar later this semester.
