San Diego Marsh Elder (Iva hayesiana)

 

San Diego Marsh Elder is a rare species of flowering plant in the daisy family - known also by the common name of San Diego Povertyweed. It is native to Baja California and San Diego. This is a shrubby, spreading perennial herb approaching a maximum of 4 feet tall and 9 feet wide. Its green oval-shaped leaves are fleshy, hairy, and aromatic. The flowers are nearly invisible.
