| Title | Push Play: USD Students respond to the Permanent Collection |
|---|---|
| Event Start Date | Friday, February 8, 2013 – Tuesday, February 26, 2013 Robert and Karen Hoehn Family Galleries, Founders Hall |
| Message | "Push Play: USD Students respond to the Permanent Collection" is an experiment in curatorial participation. Co-curated by USD undergraduate, Kat Ayd '13 and Derrick Cartwright, Director of University Galleries, this project will feature works chosen from the Print Collections as interpreted by current USD students. A variety of interpretive modes will be encouraged. For instance, an undergraduate might react to an original etching by Rembrandt van Rijn by writing a poem, or a lithograph by Alexander Calder might inspire a playlist. Contemporary student ideas will be celebrated alongside some of the most important works of art in San Diego, with the goal of matching fresh thinking and historical representations. |
