Maxim Receives 2008-2010 National Research Competition Award
Juliana Maxim, Ph.D. is the recipient of the 2008-2010 National Research Competition Award from the National Council for Eurasian and East European Research for her research on the role played by Bucharest's museum of folk architecture in the socialist re-invention of the city between 1948 and 1960. The project is the first attempt to examine how the institution's ethnographic and museographic practices were closely tied to larger cultural and economic policies of Romania's socialist regime, such as collectivization and mass-housing.
