Adding or Dropping Recreation Classes

Adding a Recreation Class

Recreation classes fill quickly. Students wanting to take a class for non-credit must wait until the indicated deadline to sign up for the class. Priority is given to students taking the class for credit. If a class is full, a student (both credit and non-credit) must obtain permission from the instructor to add the class. Students taking a class for credit must sign up by the published add deadline.

If you have any questions about adding or dropping a recreation class, please contact Serena Boyd (serenaboyd@sandiego.edu, 619-260-7751).

Dropping a Recreation Class

If a student drops a for-credit recreation class beofre the University's academic add/drop deadline, then all fees will be refunded. The student may do this through the MySanDiego portal or via One Stop Services.

If a student wishes to drop a class after the add/drop deadline, they will be issued a W as a grade and will not receive a refund. Drop forms must be signed by the Recreation Director, Gary Becker (Sports Center #102).

If a student wishes to drop a class after the University's final withdraw with a W deadline, that student must get special approval from the Recreation Director, Gary Becker (Sports Center #102). This request must be accompanied by a signed (and original copy) note from a professional and must indicate the reasoning for the late drop. The Director will then make a decision to not approve the drop at all, drop with W or drop without W (case specific). The student will not receive a refund after the first add/drop deadline set by the University (non-negotiable).

  • September 13th, 2013 (without a W or fee penalty):

    • Any for-credit class dropped on or before 9/13/13 will not incur a fee penalty and the student will receive no grade (the course will be removed from their record).
