Wellness Workshops and Private/Semi-Private Classes

USD Recreation offers a series of informative, fun, and healthy workshops and seminars every semester. Workshops are open to individuals, large groups, and small groups who are looking to add a little something extra to their health/fitness knowledge.

One-Night Specialty Classes:

Every semester, get ready to have some out-of-the-ordinary recreation fun with the One-Night Specialty classes. Every semester is different! Campus Recreation offers a specialty class a month such as the Zumbathon, Yoga Inversion, Ultimate Spin Endurance, Dance and Dine, Holiday Hip Hop, Dance Music Video and SO much more. All classes are open to any campus community member, and are usually between 60 to 90 minutes. Fees vary per program/class. These classes are a great way to have fun, focus on fitness/wellness, and get with your friends! Most classes even come with free refreshments/snacks after the class!

Fall 2014 workshop schedule:

  • Yoga Detox Workshop
    • Purify and cleanse your mind, body and spirit in this amazing Yoga Detox class. Our talented instructor yogi Robyn Smith will guide you through a yoga flow series that focuses on poses that will bend, twist and rinse your body from the inside out. No prior yoga experience needed to participate. Please bring your own yoga mat to class if you have one. A limited supply of mats will be available for check out with ID card at the Mission Fitness Center front desk.

    • 10/14, 7:30 - 8:30 PM, Mission Fitness Center, $10 per registrant (space is limited), must register by 10/13 online
  • Country Line Dance Workshop:
    • Dust off your boots for this one-night only workshop. Two talented instructors (Hannah Warde & Kelsey Talijan) will guide you through some pop country line dances that will get your heart pumping! No previous dance experience needed!
    • 11/4, 7 - 8 PM, SC 107A, $10 per registrant, must register by 10/13 online
  • Massage for Stress Reduction Workshop: Ever wanted to learn how to relieve sore muscles caused by stress (too much computer work, too much siting in a classroom/office chair, tight shoulders, etc.)? Then this workshop is for you! Instructor Adam Winter will lead class participants down a blissful road to relaxation and guide participants on how to holistically take care of the body and mind through various massage techniques. This one is not to be missed! Space is limited so register today!
    • 12/3, 7 - 8:15 PM, SC 108G, $10 per registrant, must register by 10/13 online

  • Massage Therapy & Holistic Health, $60, 4-16 people
  • Nutrition Planning, fee varies, 1-20 people
  • Stress Reduction Techniques, $40, 6-20 people

Small Group / Private Lessons & Classes Upon Request:

  • Tennis: private $40/hr, semi private $25/hr per person
  • Swimming: private $40/hr, semi private $25/hr per person
  • Yoga / Pilates: private $40/hr, semi private $25/hr per person
  • Dance: ballroom, hip hop, salsa, jazz, and more: private $40/hr, semi private $25/hr per person
  • Circuit Training / Boot Camp: private $40/hr, semi private $25/hr per person
  • CPR/First Aid/AED Certification, $80 per person, minimum of 6 per class, max of 12
