Tax Boot Camp is co-sponsored by the USD Accountancy Institute and the California Society of CPAs San Diego Chapter. It provides concentrated tax preparation experience for new CPAs. Tax Boot Camp is designed to prepare new CPA firm staff members for tax season by providing realistic hands-on training in tax return preparation, workpaper technique, and basic tax law. “Recruits” are drilled in basic tax techniques over the five-day course.

A comprehensive, realistic tax problem developed with the help of San Diego CPAs provide real-life examples of common tax reporting forms, escrow statements, business records, rental records, lease agreements, and other commonly encountered tax supporting documents. Students also practice using checklists, worksheets, and learn the basics of setting up workpapers for a corporate tax return.

The Tax Boot Camp is held annually in January on the University of San Diego's campus. The camp is team-taught each year by California Society of CPA tax professionals.
