Degree Overview
Recipients of the Master of Science in Executive Leadership degree possess a distinct advantage in the market place. The program offers a combination of development in intra- and inter-personal as well as the business technical skills needed to lead organizations. The degree curriculum enhances a candidate's strategic and collaborative ability, allowing him or her to unlock and sustain the power and potential of the entire organization. Graduates are uniquely prepared to assume leadership roles of ever greater responsibility.
The MSEL experience includes several distinguishing characteristics:
Holistic Approach to Leadership: MSEL stresses the importance of leadership in a variety of contexts from self, to one-on-one, to collaborative leadership. The program curriculum is sequenced to maximize each candidate's growth potential. Students use a variety of survey and feedback instruments to better understand themselves, peers, customers and the organizations they serve. Each step of the journey helps candidates develop flexibility of leadership style to effectively address the variety of contexts in which they operate - be it one-on-one, teams or alliances.
Cohort Community: Each cohort community is comprised of a diverse mix of individuals with 15-years of professional experience on average. Students are drawn from a variety of industries and accelerate one another's learning by sharing best practices and established solutions to common leadership challenges. This rich learning environment expands participants professional networks, provides peer support and coaching, and nurtures life-long friendships.
Executive Format: Structured to accommodate the busy schedule of executive participants, the program is delivered one weekend a month. With the support of the MSEL administrative staff, student's only responsibility is to be fully present and prepared to learn on course weekends and to follow through on learning applications and homework. Meals are provided while on campus. All books and materials are delivered to students prior to each course. This is a hassel free experience that allows executives to maximize their learning time.
Applied Learning: Through a variety of strategic learning assignments, students are expected to learn by doing. Each course provides the maximum opportunity to integrate the tools and best-practices in the student's professional environment. In between courses students work in teams and independently to integrate new material and execute prior learning objectives. Each executive's work becomes a learning laboratory. In this manner, both the individual and the organization benefit from the experience. It is not time away from work, but time away working on your work.
