In an entertaining, engaging and informative presentation, Doug Walker shares the Map of Intrinsic Motivation Points (an Internal Controls Metamodel), and two of his problem-solving applications:

  • ALDEEP: A three-phase conversation template for addressing and improving individual performance issues
  • Rapid Conflict Resolution: An eight question template for resolving conflicts between two or more employees

Walker established his initial model more than 10 years ago. It continues to prove extremely powerful in helping leaders and managers understand that they can influence and inspire, but not control their employees into optimal performance. As leaders and managers evolve their paradigm from a belief in external controls to an understanding of internal controls, they discover an array of tools and applications that are effective -- they will not only produce desired results, they will also reduce stress for both themselves and their employees.

You will find yourself learning things in this presentation that you’ll be utilizing later that same day. As a past participant in one of Walker's presentations said, “I love this. Once you learn it, you can’t not use it.”

Doug Walker is the creator of the A-ha! Performance Map of Intrinsic Motivation Points and the accompanying set of Leadership and Management Applications for preventing, solving and recovering from personnel challenges. He is the author of A-ha! PERFORMANCE: Building & Managing A Self-Motivated Workforce. Walker is widely recognized as a leading expert in intrinsic motivation management.

Walker's management and coaching approach has been adopted as the core meta-model of Coaching for Organizational Excellence, the Executive Coaching Certificate Program at San Diego State University. Walker serves on the board of advisors and teaches his approach as the anchor course for that program, as well. He is also a frequent teacher of his model in a variety of courses at the University of California, San Diego. He served for nearly eight years as the managing consultant responsible for the day-to-day operations at the San Diego office of DBM, an international career transition management consulting firm, with more than 200 offices worldwide. Walker has served or presented for a wide variety of organizations, including Sony, Qualcomm, Hewlett Packard, San Diego County, Profil Clinical Research Institute, San Diego Police and Sherriff’s Departments, SANDAG, Inc. Magazine’s Growing Your Company conference, the Professional Coaches and Mentors Association, the Society for Human Resource Managers (SHRM), and more. Walker consults with numerous organizations on the practices and strategies that maximize engagement, efficiencies and effectiveness.
