The Third Annual USD Business Plan Competition gives students “real world” experience in developing a business plan for a venture they are interested in launching, and presenting that plan to potential investors. At least two firms have been launched by student entrepreneurs who've gone through the competition.

This year we have three undergraduate and four graduate entrants competing for a total of $10,000 in prize money. The undergraduate competition will be held from 1-4p.m., and the graduate competition from 6-9 p.m. Each competitor will make a fifteen minute presentation, followed by twenty minutes of questions from the judges. A panel of five judges will evaluate the competitors and determine the allocation of prize money. The judges include Tom Breitling, a USD alum now with Wynn Las Vegas who provided the prize money for the first competition, and Andy Laats, president of Nixon and a member of the School of Business Advisory Board.
