| Message | The Ahlers Center for International Business welcomes Arturo A. Barahona, former CEO of ALSEA and former CEO of Aeromexico. Barahona will discuss Aeromexico´s radical transformation into a world class airline operation (he was the CEO while the transformation took place) and strategies and best practices to grow the franchise business in Mexico and Latin America. 5:30-7:30 p.m., Presentation, rooms AB 7:30-9 p.m., Reception, Joan B. Barahona has been president, chairman of the board, chief executive officer, chief marketing officer and chief operations officer of major multinational companies in the American continent including ALSEA, FEMSA; AeroMexico, Pepsico Foods International, and Hylsa. He served as president and CEO of ALSEA, the master franchisor chain of the largest restaurant group in Latin America that included more than 1,150 restaurants in five countries in Latin America such as Domino’s Pizza, Burger King, Starbucks, Coffee, Chili’s and California Pizza Kitchen. As president and CEO of AeroMexico Airlines he led their transformation to become a world class airline. As chief marketing officer for FEMSA-Beer division (with brands like Tecate, Sol, XX) he was responsible for marketing and distribution which engaged more than 15,000 persons in more than 200 distribution centers. In all of these positions and others, he conducted dramatic organizational changes in order to increase socially responsible business performance and profitability. Barahona has a B.Sc in mechanical engineering and an MBA from Tecnológico de Monterrey. |
