Helen Eckmann, Ed.D., professor of Leadership, Supply Chain Management, has been appointed to the editorial review board for Inside Supply Management magazine, ISM's monthly magazine for supply professionals.

Biography

Helen Eckmann, Ed.D., is at the frontier of an emerging model of successful collaboration between enterprise and academia. This blending has created such successes as Silicon Valley from the partnership of Hewlett Packard and Stanford University and is found in San Diego at the powerful information technology field in the collaboration between UCSD and private enterprise. Another example is found at the Burnham Research Institute where academic researchers work with private industry. These collaborations are proving to be a very powerful force in innovation and business expansion. Eckmann began her career on the enterprise side in business with organizations such as Raytheon Corporation and Union Bank and then blended this real work background to the campus and received her doctorate in Leadership in 2003. Since then she has lived this model with a continuing pursuit of academic accomplishments balanced equally with a wide variety of industry and business consulting in leadership, innovation, sustainability.

  • Travels as a popular motivational speaker and mentor
  • Designs and implements corporate supply chain management programs
  • Serves as an organizational behavior consultant to various industries
  • Chapman University senior lecturer in charge faculty development and curriculum delivery for both graduate and undergraduate leadership programs
  • Teaches graduate courses in business at the University of San Diego
  • Has taught leadership, marketing, strategic planning, innovations and ethics to more than 1,500 MBA students
  • Leads innovation seminars for multiple industries and organizations
  • Has been personnel director for several companies
  • Serves on the board of directors of multiple organizations
  • Founded and serves on the board of several non-profit organizations
  • As a church pastor, she provides spiritual direction to hundreds of women
