Gray Correia was an interesting and motivating guest speaker for our Finance and Accounting Course in June. He is currently the CFO of Taylor Guitars and gave a compelling presentation. Taylor Guitars is a world renown premier acoustic & electric guitar manufacturer with over $60 million in revenue, 500 employees and 200,000 square feet of manufacturing facilities in California & Mexico, with a North American market share of 40% for high end acoustic guitars. Most music enthusiasts are familiar with their products, but they may not know the individual leaders behind this expanding company. Please meet the CFO of Taylor Guitars, and former president of Financial Executives International San Diego, Gary Correia. His profile will inspire all those that read to become better leaders within their organizations.

Voice of the Customer Best Practice: Spotlight on Sheri Espinoza, HD Supply

Sheri G. Espinoza is the Director of Customer Service at HD Supply.  In her current role, Ms. Espinoza has developed and is responsible for the Voice of the Customer (VOC) Program which, in the mantra of continuous improvement, drives the operational strategy for the company.  In August 2007, this program was selected by the Corporate Executive Board as an industry best practice for measuring customer satisfaction in a Business to Business environment.  In addition, Ms. Espinoza runs the Special Orders department which produces $72 million in sales annually. This department spreads across various contact centers in the US.

University News: School of Business Ranking

For the second year in a row, BusinessWeek magazine ranks the University of San DiegoBusiness Week Logo School of Business Administration as one of the top undergraduate business programsin the nation. USD ranked 47 on the list of the top 50 programs in the nation, BusinessWeek announced on February 21.  USD’s undergraduate business program ranks among the top five schools on the West Coast and in the top two in Southern California. While there are more than 1,600 business schools in the United States, BusinessWeek only considered schools accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) for inclusion in the ranking.  From the list of more than 500 undergraduate business programs with AACSB accreditation, they narrowed the list down to the top 96 schools for inclusion in the ranking.
