Cynthia Pavett's publications have spanned a range of topics from cross-cultural organizational behavior to quality management. Currently her focus is more on teaching than research. While she enjoys teaching Organizational Behavior, Comparative Management, Organization Design and Negotiations, she loves teaching these courses in exotic locations like Prague, the Gold Coast of Australia, Yerevan, Innsbruck, Corpus Christi or any place outside of her home town of San Diego. On March 25, 2005, she ascended to the position of president of the Western Decision Sciences Institute (WDSI). This is a professional organization devoted to the dissemination of academic and pedagogical research. In addition to her service to the WDSI, she serves as a reviewer for several academic journals and academic conferences.
