Before joining the University of San Diego, Truc Ngo had worked as a senior process engineer at Intel Corporation in Hillsboro, Oregon and Santa Clara, California for nearly three years. She had also taught in the Engineering & Technologies Department at San Diego City College as an associate professor for five years, where she founded the Manufacturing Engineering Technology program.

Her research interests are in the areas of materials and processes involving polymers and composites, supercritical fluids, solar technology, and nanotechnology.
