|Event Start Date||Wednesday, October 2, 2013|
|Event Start Time||6:00 pm - 9:00 pm|
On Wednesday, October 2nd from 6 to 9pm we will be hosting our 2nd annual MSGL Washington D.C. Alumni Reception for all of our D.C. Alums, friends and prospective students. The event will take place at Clyde's of Gallery Place in the Conservatory Room.
If you can make it, I would encourage you to bring with you anyone who might be interested in learning more about the MSGL program. This would be a great opportunity for those who are considering a graduate business degree to get current information from me and perspectives from graduates on MSGL as an option.
During the reception I will provide updates and exciting new developments in the MSGL program. We are currently going through a curriculum redevelopment and rebranding campaign, so it is certainly an exciting time in the MSGL program. I will also provide a brief overview of the program for our prospective students in attendance.
Also joining us on this evening will be Michael "Duffy" Dyer. Mr. Dyer, a 2012 graduate of the MS in Global Leadership (MSGL) program, is a retired United States Marine Corps Colonel Aviator with over 6,000 hours of flight time in various types of military and civilian aircraft. His 30-plus year military service spanned a myriad of leadership billets in Administration, Operations, Maintenance, and at the Commander’s level. Of significance were Commanding Officer of both a Headquarters Squadron and Marine Corps Air Station; Deputy Chief, Readiness Division and Battle Staff Director at NORAD during Operation Noble Eagle; Inspector General, of all Marine Corps Bases in Japan; and Senior Fellow, Chief of Naval Operations, Strategic Studies Group XXVII at the Naval War College in Newport, R.I.
Since military retirement, Mr. Dyer’s positions encompassed the McMurdo Area Director, Raytheon Polar Services Company in support of the National Science Foundation and responsible for leadership, management and oversight of all functions in support of Western Antarctic Science operations. That position was followed by the Chief Executive Advisor to the Deputy Commandant for Aviation, Headquarters Marine Corps providing executive level analyses with conceptual resolutions for aviation readiness issues impacting Marine Corps operational organizations.
Currently, Mr. Dyer is CEO of the Shackleton Group, Inc., a private corporation specializing in the delivery of a full-range of business organizational design products and professional services using a non-prescriptive approach to navigating change that can modify the very culture of organizations. The focus is to collaborate with teams and provide tools to help companies develop a high performance-flourishing environment where employees excel as architects of their own solutions. This affords clients the ability to harness the single most competitive advantage in the marketplace today: THE FOCUSED, COLLECTIVE POWER OF PEOPLE.
Mr. Dyer will be leading a discussion on high-level leadership and leadership application highlighting specific elements of leadership which when learned and effectively applied, can arm leaders with game-changing tools and skills for themselves, their people and their organization. The components of this discussion will involve the following components:
Concept of Leadership:
You as a Leader:
Leading Within an Organization:
Application of Leadership:
We're excited to have him join us for an evening of good food and drinks, engaging discussion and networking.
