What factors led you to choose your program at the University of San Diego?

I wanted a business degree with heart and soul. The MSEL program will not only better equip me for the business world; it will also make me a more mindful and morally courageous leader.

What do you like best about being a student in your program?

I enjoy being a part of a cohort; the idea of experiencing this 22-month program with the same individuals every class guarantees a much more intimate, meaningful and therefore memorable experience.

How will your business degree and experiences with USD help you succeed?

I have 20 years of experience leading in a military context, but I hope to enhance my effectiveness by enriching my understanding of leadership with a business-minded lens that also focuses on and appreciates individuality.

What motivated you to continue with higher education?

I simply recognized, and am pursuing the Marine Corps adage of "Know yourself and seek self-improvement." My pursuit of higher education has already had immediate benefits in my workplace, and it is sure to contribute to my success as a Marine and as a citizen of the United States of America.

What are your first impressions of your program?

The MSEL Program is amazing; it is truly transformational as a professional and a human being. All of the intangibles that I was looking for beyond an M.B.A. are there. This isn't going to be just a business degree, this is about life.

What advice do you have for students entering your program?

Come with the requisite pursuit of excellence and self-improvement, but also come prepared to be accepting, authentic and challenged.
