Mentoring

The Burnham-Moores Center for Real Estate Mentor Program pairs real estate industry executives with Master of Science in Real Estate students according to shared areas of interest. The pair communicates regularly by phone, e-mail and in-person to discuss the student's academic progress and career goals and how best to achieve them.

Career Services

Internships provide authentic work experience and help students determine the pros and cons of various real estate related fields. They can also lead to full-time job opportunities after graduation and provide valuable professional references.

The center's staff is committed to helping students succeed in their internships and will prepare them for internships by personally reviewing their resumes, discussing various real estate careers, and providing interviewing tips prior to the application process.

The Burnham-Moores Center for Real Estate has a variety of internships available for undergraduate and graduate students. Hours worked and compensation are generally negotiable. Real estate students are strongly urged to take advantage of the center’s internship opportunities as early as possible--typically the first semester of junior year for undergraduates and at any time as graduate students.

For more information on graduate career services, contact Lauren Lukens, student and alumni services manager, at (619) 260-7619 or llukens@sandiego.edu.

For more information on undergraduate career services, contact John Ferber, commercial real estate director, at (619) 260-7513 or jferber@sandiego.edu.

Internships Are Designed to:

  • Provide the student with the opportunity to enhance their academic learning experience in a work environment.
  • Enable the student to investigate and prepare for career opportunities and make professional contacts.
  • Provide the student with work responsibilities that have depth, substance and variety.
  • Provide the student and the employer with a mutually beneficial experience.

Hours worked during the school year should be flexible and are generally between 10 to 20 hours per week. Compensation is negotiable and should be commensurate with the stated job description.

Employers seeking to hire USD interns, should complete the Internship Opportunity form and return it to John Ferber at jferber@sandiego.edu or fax to (619) 260-7496.

Full-Time Employment:

Employers seeking to hire USD students on a full-time basis, should submit the Job Opportunity form to John Ferber or Lauren Lukens, or you can fax it to (619) 260-2760.
