Ian Gill

Ian Gill has over 35 years experience in real estate development, homebuilding and general contracting. His diverse background encompasses residential, commercial, industrial, institutional and mixed-use projects with an emphasis on urban and redevelopment projects in the United States and Great Britain.

He is the co-owner and president of Highland Partnership Inc., a locally owned and operated general contractor, based in Chula Vista. The company, which is recognized as a leader in innovative project delivery systems such as Design Build and Design Assist, operates throughout Southern California.

As a founding principal of Highland, Gill has guided the strategic direction of the firm, focusing on non-traditional project procurement mechanisms, which add value for its clients. Highland’s recent projects include the Chula Vista police headquarters, the twin tower, 18-story tower Acqua Vista residential project in Little Italy, the 350 West Ash high-rise office to residential condominium conversion, San Diego State University’s Gateway, College of Extended Studies and the House of Blues in downtown San Diego. Highland’s current projects include the three-phase renovation and expansion of the Chula Vista Civic Center, San Diego State University’s Student Health Services medical office building, Southblock residential condominiums and Diegan Condotel in Downtown San Diego. 

Gill served for six years as outsourced project executive for the Centre City Development Corporation’s creation and implementation of downtown San Diego's Ballpark District. During this time, he was involved in coordinating the agency’s activities and interfacing with the Padres and master developer JMI on all aspects of this landmark, 52-block project including PETCO Park.

A native of Edinburgh, Scotland Gill holds a Master of Science Degree in Real Estate and Construction and is a Professional Associate of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (Quantity Surveying Division) in Great Britain. Gill holds a Class B General Contractor’s license in the State of California, and is a LEEDTM 2.0 Accredited Professional.
