David K. Robbins

David K. Robbins has overseen the land acquisition, development and construction of approximately 5,110 multifamily--apartment and for-sale--units with a total development value of almost $1,355 billion. Most of his experience involves high-density apartment and mixed-use projects in competitive and complex urban markets, including the city of Los Angeles, Pasadena, San Jose and Orange County, California, including projects of mid-rise and high-rise wrap and podium configurations and projects on brownfield sites.

During his career, Robbins has been a senior development officer with some of the most prominent and successful public and private multifamily development firms in the United States. In 1992, he began his development career with Archstone, where he was a senior partner with a downtown Los Angeles firm that specialized in real estate transactions. At Archstone, Robbins was initially in charge of the company’s due diligence department while the company acquired over 16,000 apartments. In 1994, Robbins became vice president of development, where he was responsible for a variety of land acquisitions and development efforts, including in Arizona and California. Robbins later shifted to BelmontCorp, an assisted living developer and operator, also started and owned by Security Capital Group, to open Belmont’s California office.

Robbins has been in charge of the Southern California development and construction division for BRE Properties, another publicly-traded REIT headquartered in San Francisco, where as regional vice president of development, he led a team of six development professionals and was responsible for sourcing several sites in Southern California.

Robbins has served as principal and executive vice president for Fifield Realty Corp., a large private developer based in Chicago, where he was responsible for all condominium development and construction activities in California, including the development and construction of a 24-story 80-unit luxury condominium tower in West Los Angeles, which garnered some of the highest sales prices in the history of Southern California real estate.

Robbins earned a bachelor's degree from Carleton College and a J.D. from the University of Southern California.
