Leaders
China
Fred McClintock is the president of RDS Global, Ltd., an international consulting firm including global research, due diligence, and business development. RDS is specialized in high tech, semi-conductor, telecommunications, software and security firm expansion into worldwide markets. In the past 10 years, Mr. McClintock has focused his attentions on the Pacific Rim and assisted major clients in a variety of projects there. Projects include extensive market studies, market access and penetration, establishing joint venture companies, developing distribution channels, developing OEM relationships, and performing in-depth due diligence. Clients include Rockwell, Litton, Semtech, SAIC and Pacific Telesis to name a few.
Over the course of his career, Mr. McClintock spent 10 years with United Telecommunications in a variety of positions from consulting to Director of International Operations. He made significant organizational changes and developed product support structures effectively increasing customer satisfaction. Additionally, he increased international revenues over ten-fold in a two year time frame. He has served on the Board of Directors and as Chair of the Political Advocacy Committee for the World Trade Center San Diego and the International Committee of the American Electronics Association. He is a guest speaker and lecturer at various institutions including the University of San Diego, UCSD, University of Phoenix, World Trade Center and US Dept of Commerce. His topics include political, economic and market risk analysis and projections throughout Asia and the Pacific Rim.
India
Vijay Kapur, Ph.D.,
is Professor of Marketing, Sales and Strategic Management in the University of Dehli's Faculty of Management Studies. He received his bachelor's degree, with Honors in History and Political Science, from St. Stephen's College, Delhi. He obtained his MBA, with distinction, from the University of Delhi and his Ph.D., within a record three and a half year time frame, from the University of South Carolina at Columbia. He is also a distinguished honours graduate of the elite Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration in Mussoorie, India.
A specialist in business strategy, issues affecting communication between cultures,
governance and change, international conflict, global management and marketing and
sales promotion, Professor Kapur has delivered over seventy lectures on issues of
salience at academic and other professionally recognized locations in the United
Kingdom, the United States, Canada and the Indian subcontinent, among others. He has
written two books on issues of governance and has
over forty published monographs, with writings on issues connected with the
Dimensions of Intercultural Dialogue, International Management, International Conflict,
International Marketing and Public Policy Development, among others, being published
in the UK, USA and India.
Japan
John Rehfeld was previously VP & General Manager of Toshiba’s laptop computer business, where he launched the first commercially successful laptop computer in 1986 and was subsequently named one of the top 25 computer executives by CRN magazine. He then became president of Seiko Instruments USA, followed by CEO positions with three other technology companies in Northern and Southern California, including Proxima, a NASDAQ traded company. In addition, he has served on the board of over 12 public and private companies including Seiko USA.
Rehfeld has written an HBR article and a book about his management experiences at Toshiba and Seiko, “Alchemy of a Leader” which was translated into six different languages. He has also written articles in Harvard Business Review, NY Times, The Pepperdine Business Review, Directors Monthly and The Corporate Board.
His academic credentials include a Bachelors of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Minnesota and an MBA from Harvard University.
John is currently independent Board Member of two public and two private technology companies. The public companies are ADC/Telecom, a $1.4B telecom hardware company and Local.com, a $50M local search engine company. Rehfeld is also lead Director and Chairman of the Compensation Committee for Local.com, and Chairman of the Compensation Committee for ADC/Telecom. In addition, Rehfeld has been a CEO Coach for five different CEO’s, judges business plans for two universities and teaches marketing and entrepreneurship in the Pepperdine Executive MBA program and in the University of San Diego’s Master of Science in Executive Leadership program.
Charla Griffy-Brown, Ph.D., is currently an Associate Professor of Information Systems and Technology Management and held the Denny Endowed Chair (2007-2009) at Pepperdine University’s Graziadio School of Business and Management. In 2004, she received a research award from the International Association for the Management of Technology, which recognized her as one of the most active and prolific researchers in the Technology Management and Innovation field. A former researcher at the Foundation for Advanced Studies on International Development, Tokyo, Dr. Griffy-Brown has also served as an associate professor at the Tokyo Institute of Technology. Dr. Griffy-Brown graduated from Harvard University, is a former Fulbright Scholar, and holds a Ph.D. in Technology Management from Griffith University in Queensland, Australia. She has worked for NASA at the Kennedy Space Center and served as a consultant for the United Nation’s Global Environmental Facility and the European Commission. She has taught innovation/technology management courses in Australia, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Japan. Dr. Griffy-Brown has conducted research at companies such as Honda, Hilton Hotels and Pratt-Whitney Rocketdyne/Boeing as well as multinational companies in Japan. Her publications include more than 40 articles as well as books in the areas of technology management, information systems, and techno-economic development. Some of her publications are written in Japanese. She is currently part of a global research team analyzing the transformation of institutional systems and techno-economic development with the International Institute of Applied Systems Analysis and Tokyo Institute of Technology.
