4) The host institution will contact you with further application instructions. After applying to the host institution, you should expect to receive an official acceptance letter.

5) USD students are solely responsible for obtaining an appropriate student visa for their time abroad. Be sure to check your host country's consulate for further instructions and visa requirements well in advance of your trip. Please note that all USD students traveling abroad for University purposes are covered under insurance. Receive your insurance card. You will likely need this for your visa.

6) Before you depart, meet with USD's exchange coordinator to finalize your course schedule. After this meeting, you will be registered for the necessary amount of units in USD's system.

7) At the end of your term abroad, be sure to request that your host institution sends your transcripts to USD. Once your transcripts are received, your general USD units will be changed to the appropriate courses you took abroad. Your grades will also transfer.
