Global Business Strategy, Leadership and Competitiveness


The emerging competition forces within the global economy have great influences on business contexts, management strategies, and leadership styles. This seminar-workshop provides participants best global practices on how major multinational companies craft and execute strategies in an international context. Special attention is given to effective leadership styles, business growth, business differentiation via innovation, business model design, and strategic bets for sustainable competitiveness. Group dynamics and simulation exercises will enhance the learning process as a way to develop profound understanding and managerial know-how of the complex dimensions of international management. Practical cases and hands-on discussions will be essential components of the learning process.

J. Gomez

Jaime Alonso Gómez, Ph.D, has been a researcher and consultant for companies and/or institutions across five continents. He obtained his B.Sc. (Industrial Engineering) at Monterrey Institute of Technology in Monterrey, Mexico; M.Sc. (Applied Systems Design) at The University of Waterloo in Waterloo, Canada; and Ph.D. (Applied Economics and Managerial Science) at The Wharton School of The University of Pennsylvania. Additionally, he conducted post-graduate research work on Quality Management and Engineering at The Association for Overseas Technical Scholarship in Tokyo, Japan.

Internationally, Dr. Gómez has taught executives from all the Americas, Europe, Africa, Far and Middle East and is a frequent guest speaker around the world. His areas of interest are global leadership and strategy, sustainable design, and international operations.

Currently, Dr. Gómez is a Distinguished Professor of Strategy and International Business at Monterrey Institute of Technology in Mexico and the University of San Diego in California, USA. Before this, for 20 years, Jaime Alonso was National Dean of the Graduate Schools of Business Administration and Leadership (EGADE), Dean of the EGADE Mexico City, Dean of EGADE Monterrey and Associate Researcher at The USA-Mexico Center for Strategic Studies (All of these at Monterrey Tech, Monterrey, Mexico).
