North American CSEAR Conference
The Centre for Social and Environmental Accounting Research (CSEAR) has held an annual conference in the United Kingdom (often referred to as the Summer School) for more than two decades.
After previous conferences on the eastern coasts of the American continent in Montréal, Canada (July 2008 and May 2011) and Orlando, Florida (January 2010), the CSEAR North America Congress has ventured into the Wild West to San Diego, California. The 2013 North American CSEAR Conference will be January 3-5, 2013 at the University of San Diego, hosted by the School of Business Administration and the Ahlers Center for International Business.
Similar to the CSEAR UK Summer School, the Congress will be a deliberately informal gathering of researchers, teachers, students, and practitioners concerned with social and environmental accounting, teaching and research in the very widest sense. Limited to a maximum of 60 delegates, the emphasis is on a high level of interaction, discussion, and debate in a friendly, supportive, and relaxed atmosphere with all aspects of social, environmental and sustainability theory and practice in accounting and other disciplines.
Professor Jan Bebbington, Professor of Accounting and Sustainable Development at the University of St. Andrews, School of Management and Director of the St. Andrews Sustainability Institute is scheduled to be the plenary speaker.
