Greg Sherman (BA '92) was promoted to general manager of the Colorado Avalanche NHL team. Sherman was the assistant general manager for the team for the past seven seasons, working with former GM Francois Giguere on all personnel and business related matters, including contract negotiations, arbitration cases and cap management. He coordinated all financial obligations for the Avalanche and their American Hockey League affiliate, the Lake Erie Monsters. To read more, click HERE.
Andres Garza (MBA '94) was named Chairman of CAINTRA (Chamber of Industry for Nuevo Leon, Mexico). CAINTRA is a non-profit private organization that represents the industrial community of Monterrey (also known as the Industrial Capital of Mexico). With over 5,000 members and 65 years of history, CAINTRA is one of the most prestigious and influential chambers and trade organizations in Mexico.
In 2002, Andres received USD's Author E. Hughes Career Achievement Award for his success as co-owner of Xignux, a multinational corporation.
Mike Brown (BBA '92), Cleveland Cavaliers HeadCoach, is the winner of the Red Auerbach Trophy as the NBA Coach of the Year for the 2008-09 season.
Brown received a total of 355 points, including 55 first-place votes out of a possible 122, from a panel of sportswriters and broadcasters throughout the U.S. and Canada. Coaches were awarded five points for each first-place vote, three points for each second-place vote and one point for each third-place vote received. To read more, click HERE.
Ryan Sweetnam (BBA '08) donated his time and talent by steam cleaning the concrete surfaces around USD's Olin Hall free of charge, compliments of his company, Extreme Clean.
On Sweetnam's company website (www.CleanWithExtreme.com), he acknowledges USD: “The university instilled strong values and morals which have structured my company’s core, while providing an ethical and compassionate service to the community.”
