› About the Committee

Mission and Vision

The SBA Solidarity Committee strives to support the SBA Core Strategy of enhancing organizational effectiveness and Dean Pyke's goal of making the SBA a great place to work.

Ultimately, the Solidarity Committee is designed to serve faculty, staff and administrators as a vehicle to foster communication, professional growth and relationships among faculty, staff and administrators.

Goals for the 2011 - 2012 Academic Year

Service

Execute one community service event each semester. Service event should take place on a work day and all SBA employees will be encouraged to participate.

Social

Execute at least one off-campus social event including family of the SBA, which will take place on a weekend. Additional social activities will be organized, both on and off campus.

Professional

  1. Establish an open forum format for Staff/Admin meetings. Staff and administrators are encouraged to submit questions and agenda items through the comment box prior to the meeting and/or bring their questions and comments to the meeting.
  2. Hold two SBA-wide town hall style meetings per year, with an emphasis on open communication and Q&A.
  3. Offer professional development opportunities for SBA employees. We propose to hold one workshop/seminar each semester led by faculty where they will present on a topic of their expertise. Topics can include leadership skills, negotiation, personal finance, etc. Attendees will receive a certificate of completion that can be reflected on one's resume.
