Ellen Cook has taught at the University of San Diego for over 25 years. Professor Cook worked in industry for several years prior to studying for her doctorate. Five years were spent working in Japan. She speaks Japanese and Japanese Management is her particular academic focus. In the field of Accounting, she is especially interested in management accounting topics, particularly as they involve decision making.
Professor Cook teaches both undergraduate and graduate courses. She teaches frequently in overseas programs, including periods in Monterrey, Mexico, and Hamilton, New Zealand. She teaches USD Ahlers Center overseas courses, where she has led students in England, Hong Kong, Germany, the Czech Republic, and South Africa. Professor Cook has been involved in the San Diego international community, offering continuing education courses, organizing seminars, and serving on the Board of the Japan Society of San Diego and Tijuana.
