Leading Indicators Provide Sunny Economic Outlook

North County Times -- July marks the ninth consecutive month of increase in a local economic index, suggesting San Diego County's economy is on the mend, the University of San Diego said Thursday.
Improvements in construction and employment in recent months helped the index rise 0.3 percent in July from the previous month. The streak suggests the local economy is gathering momentum, said Alan Gin, an economist at the university and creator of the index. The Index of Leading Indicators uses 10 economic measures to produce a measure intended to predict movement in the job market, Gin said. (Full Story)
