Overview

Interfaces

As the Banner project progresses, Legacy SIS modules will be replaced by Banner modules. In many cases these Legacy modules have data flows to other modules and systems. These data flows must be addressed to ensure our ability to continue business operations. The Banner implementation will also necessitate the creation of new data flows as our business process change and new systems and applications are brought on-line. The Interfaces and Integration team is responsible for identifying and documenting these data flow requirements. When necessary, interfaces will be updated and/or created to address data flow changes necessitated by the Banner implementation.

Integration

In some cases, the data exchanges between Banner and other systems can be built so as to allow for direct integration of the two systems. Rather than creating a traditional “point-to-point” interface consisting of an extract from a sending system and an import into a receiving system, integration will allow the systems to be directly linked so that the business processes they support work without interruption and potentially in real-time.
