My name is Avery Nickerson, and I am extremely excited to serve the USD community as the Director of Wellness and Sustainability. I am a junior from Kansas City, majoring in marine science, and minoring in chemistry. As the Director of Wellness and Sustainability, I am the primary advocate for student health issues and USD campus sustainability efforts. My goals for this year include (but are certainly not limited to) creating a better support system for students suffering from mental health issues, providing students with more information on how to live a healthy lifestyle, and helping students connect with and protect the amazing environment that surrounds us. When I'm not working in the SLIC or in a meeting with my partners in the wellness and sustainability field, you can find me working on my research project in the science building, attending FUSO and PhiDE meetings, volunteering, or enjoying the sea life in the Sunset Cliffs tide pools.
