Associated Students embraces all forms of diversity in our campus community, and in so doing respects the unique characteristics of our community members and their contributions to our campus. The Associated Students, the Senate, and the Committee on Inclusion & Diversity are committed to working with every member of the campus community to resolve issues, allow the voice of all students to be heard, and use critical thinking and specific data to help drive decisions and actions that foster a community that is both welcoming and inclusive.
In light of this commitment, and our responsibility that comes with it, we encourage all members of the student body to proactively address acts of intolerance that occur in their presence. An act of intolerance is conduct that adversely and unfairly targets an individual or group on the basis of one or more of the following actual or perceived characteristics: (1) gender or gender identity; (2) race or ethnicity; (3) disability; (4) religion; (5) sexual orientation; (6) nationality; (7) socio-economic status or (8) age. It is only through recognizing and reporting these acts that we work together toward a campus climate that is both reflective of our university’s values and appreciative of all of our community members.
