It is with great excitement that I welcome you into the 2015-2016 school year and back to our beautiful campus. Despite the sadness I feel that this is my last year at USD, I rest assured knowing that it will be a great one. Your Associated Students Executive team, TPB, and Senate have been busy at work since last May. Our focus will center around ensuring the student voice is heard and seen on campus, programming meaningful events, utilizing the University’s space for student led events, and connecting groups on campus to build a greater sense of Torero pride and community.
Over the past three years, I have participated in a myriad of activities that have all helped to create a unified perspective of our campus. Throughout my term as President, I assure you that I will remember what is at the foundation of our University - our students.
Personally, I came to USD because I knew I wanted a University that I could be fully active in. Whether it be getting to know my teachers, getting involved in student organizations, or utilizing our schools resources, USD makes it all possible. I challenge you, whether it be your first year here or your last, to get to know the people around you. Support those in our community. And remember people matter. We are in this together.
I firmly believe that we are each other’s biggest resource. Whether it be academically, socially, or in regards to social justice, The Associated Students Team has the resources, talent, and time to work with you. I personally love to hear about what fellow Toreros are doing, so please do not hesitate to say hi or come into the SLIC to chat. I can't wait to spend this year working together to make our campus the best it can be.
