Seasoned musician, Jonatha Brooke, shares her thought about this free workshop:

PASSWORDS, PROMPTS & PERMISSION.

"I like to find new ways into songs. It could be a conversation you overheard in the airport, a turn of phrase from your favorite poet, The New York Times headline from last Thursday. Or just a groove, melody or chord progression you can't get out of your head.

It's all grist.

In this workshop I talk about the many paths to creativity:

No idea too dumb;

Word Painting;

Rhythmic inspiration;

Melodic choices.

We'll talk about hooks, instrumentation, tempo, cadence, key. How you land an effective musical, or literal phrase. How the melody can amplify your emotional intention.

You don't have to have ever written a song to play along. You just have to be interested in telling a story, distilling an idea down to its 100 proof essence.

I'll break down my own process, help you look at yours. We'll do some "quick and dirty" exercises to break down your roadblocks. It will be fun. And you will leave with some new tools in your arsenal that will keep on sparking your next creative endeavors."

Everyone is invited and there is no cost!
