Chair of Student Life

Chris Hermes

Hi, I'm Chris Hermes and I will be the Chair of Student Life and a Commuter Senator for this upcoming 2017-2018 academic year. Coming into my junior year, I have involved myself with Associated Students since second semester Freshman year (holding the role of Chair of Student Life the previous year), I am a member of the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity, and I work as an Operations Assistant at the USD Missions Fitness Center.
All of my involvements and organizations I am a part of really have contributed to the passion I have for Associated Students here on campus. As a freshman in my second semester, I began to take notice to issues and desires students were expressing and decided to no longer just sit there and complain, but rather to do something about it.
Some initiatives I have worked on and developed with the assistance of fellow AS senators include: installing Direct TV to the Missions Fitness Center, collecting donated textbooks to provide Student Support Services with, planning and coordinating the homelessness awareness event on campus called "A Night Without Shelter," re-installing and improving the USD Tram Tracker on the MySDMobile app, and more.
I have only been a part of this organization for a little over a year now, but I can already attest to the hard work Associated Students and all the senators put in to make this campus the best it can be. I expect big things to come and I can't wait to see all the amazing things we will accomplish this year!
P.S. I love talking to students to hear what they have to say, so if you see me around campus don't be afraid to tell me what's on your mind!
