Danny McConville

Hi Toreros Friends!

I am excited to join Associated Students and be your AS Chair of Communications this year. I am originally from a small town called Sleepy Hollow out of the northwest suburbs of Chicago. Ever since coming to the University of San Diego, I have fallen in love with this place that we all call home. Whether it was my freshman year in the dorms or my time spent living in Mission Beach, each year at USD has provided unbelievable experiences that have made me the person I am today!

I will be entering my final and senior year at the University of San Diego finishing up with a major in International Business with minors in Political Science and Asian Studies (Yes, I survived four semesters of Mandarin...) During my time at USD, I tried to get involved in a variety of activities whether it be giving tours to prospective high school students through the Admissions Office or spending time with my brothers as a part of the fraternity Phi Gamma Delta. I also have been on Associated Students for the past two years as an AS Senator and ran for AS President this last year. Although I didn't win the race, I am extremely happy to be able to stay on the AS team and work with TJ Hodges, one of the best AS Presidents this campus has ever seen!

As the voice of AS, the Communications Board focuses on marketing AS and student initiatives campus-wide. We make it our priority to connect the student body to the USD administration and to ensure that all of your voices are unobstructed and heard. Furthermore, we will work with the Torero Program Board (TPB) in order to create the best possible experiences and opportunities here at USD.

Some of my major goals this year will be:

  • Increase the transparency and the awareness of Associated Students as an avenue for students to voice their opinion and create change on their own campus
  • Be able to market the various events that are happening around campus and make sure students understand the amazing opportunities that are made available for them.
  • Enhance the overall student experience with expanded marketing and communications.

My ultimate goal with my term as AS Communications Chair is to make sure students understand that their voice is heard. I encourage all of you to stop by my office (SLP 312) or just casually stop me whenever you see me around campus to chat.  I want to be a resource for students to use in order to get their message out and make sure their voice is heard. Feel free to shoot me an email or message me on Facebook with any ideas you have for the student body, and I would be more than happy to help you make sure your idea is noticed! Associated Students is for every student, not just the ones that are elected!  I look forward to hearing from you!
