Frequently Asked Questions

  1. What does the conference registration provide?
    Registration includes housing from July 17 to July 20 and meals beginning with dinner on Tuesday, July 17 through breakfast on Friday, July 20 with the exception of dinner on your own on Wednesday, July 18.

  2. What if I want to stay on Friday night?
    If you decide to stay the night of Friday, July 20 following the conference, you will need to add an additional night on your conference registration. $70 single room, $55 shared room.

  3. What if I am bringing my family and would like to stay off-campus?
    Please review the information about USD's partnership with Bartell Hotels to receive a USD discount to stay at one of these local hotels. 10% of the cost of the room when staying at these hotels contribute to USD student scholarships.
  4. What is the weather like in San Diego in July?
    San Diego is famous for its mild, temperate weather throughout the year. The average high in July is 72-77° F with the average low 63-67° F. There have been instances where the temperatures have reached the mid-90's during the month of July. Be sure to be prepared for very sunny and warmer-than-usual days! Check out the weather forecast.

  5. What should I bring to the conference from home?
    We hope to provide you with enough essentials to make your stay with us an enjoyable one. However, if there are incidental items that you require (i.e. hair dryer, iron, etc.), please feel free to bring them with you.

  6. How do I get from the San Diego International Airport to the USD campus?
    Click here for driving directions to the USD campus. Ride sharing programs such as Lyft and Uber are also very popular here in San Diego! It takes around 10 minutes to get from the San Diego International Airport to the campus. Be sure to tell your driver to take the East Entrance onto campus to get the quickest access to conference housing in the Alcalá Vista Apartments.

  7. Where do I go once I get to campus?
    If you are at the USD campus, you should visit the Alcalá Vista Apartments, Palomar Hall on the East side of campus. When traveling East along Linda Vista Rd. (up the hill), the East Entrance will be the third entrance after the West Entrance and the Main Entrance. Click here to see where the Alcalá Vista Apartments/Palomar Hall are on a map of campus. A registration desk is available on Tuesday, July 7 from 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM. Outside of these hours, contact USD Conference Services at (619) 260-4623. If you are arriving outside of those hours, please proceed to the Main Check-In location (Palomar Hall) and contact the USD Public Safety Office at (619) 260-7777.

  8. What if I am arriving early (Sunday and Monday)?
    If you are arriving early, please visit USD's Summer Conferences office. The Summer Conferences office is open 7 days a week between 8:00 AM - 12:00 AM. If you are arriving outside of those hours, please proceed to the Main Check-In location (Palomar Hall) and contact the USD Public Safety Office at (619) 260-7777.
    • The Summer Conferences office/ASACCU 2018 check-in location is located in the first floor multi-purpose room in San Buenaventura. You can enter this location into the Lyft and Uber apps, which will direct you to that location on the USD campus. Click here to see the Google Map for detailed directions.
    • Enter campus through the Main Entrance, which is the second entrance you will pass going up the hill on Linda Vista Rd.
    • Turn left into the Main Entrance, then an immediate right at the stop sign onto Torero Wy.
    • Follow the road down the hill and stay left at the 3-way stop.
    • Continue until you reach the cul-de-sac, which is where you can be dropped off next to the Missions Cafe and Bosley Mission Fitness Center.
  9. What if I am commuting to the conference?
    If you are commuting to the conference, you have the option of checking-in on Tuesday between the main check-in times (preferred) or on Wednesday morning at the Kroc IPJ, Rotunda before 10:00 AM.
  10. Am I allowed to park my car on campus?
    If you will be parking a vehicle on campus, you will receive your parking pass when you check-in. The pass will grant you parking privileges in the Alcalá Vistas lots only. This is the residential area where our conference guests will be staying.
  11. How do I get around the USD campus?
    It is about a 10 minute walk with a gentle slope from the Alcalá Vista Apartments to the center of campus, and another 5-10 minutes to the main meeting spaces. Trams will also be running on their usual summer schedule.

  12. Will you have exercise options for guests?
    Yes, we will have fitness classes, exercise facilities (including our olympic-sized pool, tennis courts, etc.) and equipment available for ASACCU conference attendees. We will have three workout facilities open during the conference and encourage attendees to bring their workout clothing.

    Pool:
    The pool is an outdoor 12 lane lap pool heated to 79 degrees. Conference attendees will need to bring their own swim wear, goggles, and swim cap. Please download the liability wavier and return the form to the USD Summer Camps and Conferences office located in the San Buenaventura 1st Floor lounge located next to Missions Cafe.

    Gym:
    Closed-toe workout shoes are required.

    Trail hike/run:
    Please bring comfortable workout clothes and closed-toe shoes. Hat/sunglasses are recommended.

    Yoga classes:
    Please bring workout clothing. Yoga mats will be provided.

  13. What other activities are available for guests?
    The Hahn UC Ticket Office offers many discounts to local attractions such as Seaworld, the Birch Aquarium, Legoland, and many more! We also have discount tickets for AMC and Regal Theatres. Many of these can be purchased online.

  14. How do I access the internet?
    If you are coming from an institution that uses an “eduroam” account, you will be able to use that account here at USD. If you need temporary access to USD’s wifi, select “usdguest.” If your device is not picking up usdguest as an option, please go to: sandiego.edu/guest-wireless

    Once registered, you must you must re-log in every 24 hours. You can use the same log-in credentials on up to three different devices.

  15. How do I get food on campus?
    We will be providing a variety of exciting and locally-sourced meals for all of our conference attendees, which will be prepared by USD's award-winning Catering department! Conference attendees will also receive an $18 meal card to be used for breakfasts in Student Life Pavilion Dining on Wednesday and Thursday morning. USD also has many wonderful dining options that will be available at your convenience throughout the conference.   16. How do I download the mobile app?
    To access the ASACCU 2018 mobile app, please download Guidebook for your mobile device here or via your device's app store. Use the passphrase: asaccu2018 to find this year's conference guide.
