In the Catholic tradition, we create an inclusive, educational environment which motivates and supports student learning and personal development, serves the University community, and inspires students to make a positive contribution to society.

The Division of Student Affairs is comprised of many multi-faceted areas within the University.   Student Affairs works collaboratively with Academic Affairs and all other areas of the University to create an integrated learning environment.  The Division of Student Affairs is organized into four functional areas: Student Wellness, Student Life, Dean of Students, and Resource Management.

Student Life provides a welcoming and inclusive environment, developmental opportunities, and services as a catalyst for students to become ethical leaders who enjoy meaningful lives and positively impact a global society.

The Student Life area is responsible for the University Center, the Jenny Craig Pavilion, Associated Student Government, Student Activities, Student Organizations, Greek Life, Leadership Development, Outdoor Programs, Campus Scheduling, Special Events, and Campus Recreation.  The Student Life staff works to create a seamless learning environment that integrates academic programs with learning opportunities outside of the classroom.

The Wellness area is comprised of the Center for Health and Wellness Promotion, the Counseling Center, Disability Services, and the Student Health Center.  Together, the Wellness units work collaboratively with the USD community to help students achieve and maintain well being in support of their personal and academic goals.

The Dean of Students area is comprised of the following departments and offices:  Residential Life, Student Learning Initiatives, Multicultural Affairs, Women’s Center, Education Opportunity Programs, Student Conduct, New Student Orientation, and the Graduate Student Life.  Each office is well poised to support students via integrated, collaborative learning experiences, to increase their awareness, knowledge and skills, and to prepare them to positively impact the university community and global society.

Within the Student Affairs Division, the Resource Management area manages budgets, human resources and personnel matters and information technology systems for the Student Affairs division.

The Student Affairs’ professional staff serves as advisors to the Associated Students government and program directors as well as to student organizations, including graduate and Greek organizations.  We are here to support and enhance student success.
