The Department of Public Safety is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. All personnel are trained in first aid, CPR, oxygen administration and automated external defibrillation. The department’s goal is a safe and secure campus. Many of our personnel have had significant public safety experience at other major universities and at the federal, state and local level. The department looks upon its function as public service and considers all problems that a member of the USD community may encounter as a legitimate area of possible assistance by the University. If the department cannot, by itself, deal with a problem or concern, it will find a person, function or agency that can. Public Safety offers investigation, women's self defense classes (RAD), crime prevention, law enforcement liaisons, major event planning, lost and found, engraving of personal articles, late-night escort and transportation for disabled persons. The department's website is http://www.sandiego.edu/safety.
