The Recreation Department sponsors a variety of different programs for students, faculty and staff, and alumni of the University. Included are recreation classes, informal recreation, wellness/fitness programs, recreational special events, intramural sports, and sports clubs.
Informal recreation is for those who desire to recreate on their own without formal structure. This includes open facility times at the Sports Center for basketball, tennis, volleyball, and swimming. Locker room use and equipment checkout is also available at the Sports Center. The Jenny Craig Pavilion McNamara Fitness Center and the Mission Café and Fitness Center are open for informal cardio and weight training. To use the facilities or to check out equipment, patrons must present a valid USD I.D. or Facility Use Pass.
The wellness/fitness program is dedicated to keeping people active and healthy. Students may purchase a Fit & Active card which allows members to drop into a number of fitness classes such as spin, yoga, Pilates, core conditioning, dance, and more. With this program, members can design their own fitness program and take as many classes as they wish. In addition, the Mission Café and Fitness Center serves as a fitness workout area, a resource for those individuals wishing to start a program or those who have specific fitness questions, and personal training opportunities. For personal training pricing, please visit http://www.sandiego.edu/mfc. Furthermore, the Health and Fitness Annex located in the Sports Center serves as an Injury rehab center, Massage therapy center, and fitness resource area.
