Student Technology Resources and Services:
USD provides e-mail (Torero Mail Powered by Google) and Web access for student use.  Online access is provided through the University’s web portal at http://my.sandiego.edu. Students can access everything from email; grades, class schedules and their campus cash account all through the web portal.

Academic Technology Labs There are nine general computing/instructional facilities on campus: (http://www.sandiego.edu/its/labs/)

The Serra Hall Lab (Room 205)
Serra 205 is a general computing lab housing networked PC compatible computers running Windows XP and Office 2007 as well as Macintosh workstations running Leopard and Office 2008.  The Serra 205 lab is equipped with several peripherals for use on a first-come first-serve basis. There is one negative scanner and three flat bed scanners hooked up to PC and Macintosh computers. The lab is partitioned off for collaboration use with our TideBreak software. The lab is also equipped with an HP Black and White LaserJet Printer, HP Color LaserJet and an Inkjet printer for students enrolled in any of the Art or Photography courses.  Cost for LaserJet black and white printing is ten cents per page and fifty cents per color page. All printing is controlled by a print release station in the lab and can be accessed with a valid USD Torero card.

The Olin Hall Lab (Room 122) Olin 122 houses several PC compatible workstations running Windows XP and Microsoft Office 2007. This lab is primarily for students in the School of Business however, it is open to all students on campus. Black and white printing is available for ten cents per page. Printing is controlled by a print release station and can only be accessed with a valid USD Torero card.

The Serra Hall Labs (Rooms 156 A and B)
Serra 156 houses iMac workstations in section A and PC compatible workstations in section B.  These labs are designed as both hands-on instructional labs and open access general computing labs when available. Each room is equipped with overhead projectors and document cameras. The Macintosh lab is also equipped with three flat-bed scanners and one negative scanner for use on a first-come first-serve basis. Printing is available from both labs through our HP LaserJet Printer and HP Color LaserJet printer. Costs for black and white printing are ten cents per page and fifty cents per color printing. All printing is controlled by a print release station in the main area of the lab and can be accessed with a valid USD Torero card.

The Serra Hall LINUX Lab (Room 163)
Serra 163 houses LINUX workstations and is primarily used by Computer Science students.  This is an unsupervised lab and is generally open late.

The Maher Instructional Lab (Maher 114)
Maher 114 houses PC compatible workstations and is primarily used as a hands-on instructional lab.   The lab is equipped with an overhead projector and is laptop compatible. Printing is available in this lab through our HP LaserJet printer and is used strictly for the purpose of the course.

The Serra Hall Lab- Instructional Lab (Room 155)
Serra 155 houses dual-boot iMac workstations and is primarily used as a hands–on instructional lab. This lab has various features such as Echo 360, Tidebreak and Smartboard technology. It is equipped with dual projectors, one document camera and an HP LaserJet printer. Whiteboards wrap all around the entire room for maximum flexibility and collaboration. 

The Barcelona Lab (Room 221)
Barcelona 221 houses PC compatible workstations and is primarily used as a hands-on instructional lab. This lab is equipped with an overhead projector and smart board. It is also laptop compatible for instructional use.

The Pardee Legal Research Center (LRC) Instructional Lab
Houses PC compatible workstations for use in legal research, primarily used by law students.  This lab is designed as both a hands-on instructional lab and open access lab.

All facilities have workstations that connect to the University’s network and the Internet allowing users to access servers in remote locations.  Hours of operation will be posted on or near lab doors.  Not all labs are open during the summer and intersession sessions.  Serra 156A, Serra 156B, Maher 114, and the PLRC Lab will be used periodically as classrooms for computer-oriented hands-on courses.

Learning Management System at USD (WebCT/BB) http://www.sandiego.edu/webct
Some faculty members may have instructional material on a WebCT/Blackboard course for ease of access for the students. This will help you access course syllabus, homework, assignments or discussions by logging to the LMS (Learning Management System). You can check with your professor if she/he has course content online on the LMS server-- http://pope.sandiego.edu

IT-Training Workshops (http://www.sandiego.edu/tutorials/)
We offer many training workshops on supported technology at USD that students can attend free of charge. These workshops are short sessions offered throughout the year and a great way to learn how to use applications. Workshops range from Microsoft suite of applications, to Adobe and many others.
