Bishop Charles Francis Buddy Award
The Bishop Charles Francis Buddy Award was first presented in 1976.
It is now presented annually to an alumnus/a of the University of San
Diego in recognition of his/her significant or extraordinary contributions
and commitment to humanitarian causes. The award criteria include:

A devotion to improving, enhancing and promoting human welfare and
rights;
- The personification of the human values of honesty, integrity, loyalty
and fidelity;
- The community values of peace, justice, and freedom;
- And the spiritual values of faith, hope and love.
Current members of the USD staff, faculty, administration or Alumni
Association Board of Directors are not eligible to receive the Bishop
Charles Francis Buddy Award.
Alumni may not self nominate and Elected officials currently serving in office are ineligible for nomination.
Mother Rosalie Clifton Hill Award
In honor of Reverend Mother Rosalie Clifton Hill, the University's Mother
Rosalie Hill Award is presented annually to an alumnus/a who personifies
the spirit and philosophy of the University of San Diego. The criteria
for the Mother Rosalie Hill Award includes:

Exhibit involvement, service, enthusiasm and commitment well beyond
what is expected of a USD alumna/alumnus;
- Demonstrate service to, and support of, the goals of the USD Alumni
Association;
- Uphold the mission statement of the University of San Diego;
- Motivate alumni to maintain a continuous mutual relationship with
the University of San Diego and its programs;
- Exemplify in all aspects of his/her life, an integration of the human
values of honesty, loyalty, integrity and fidelity; community;
- Values such as peace, justice and freedom; and the spiritual values
of faith, hope and love.
Current members of the USD staff, faculty, administration or Alumni
Association Board of Directors are not eligible to receive the Mother
Rosalie Hill Award.
Alumni may not self nominate and Elected officials currently serving in office are ineligible for nomination.
Author E. Hughes Career Achievement Award
In honor of President Emeritus, Author E. Hughes, the University's Author E. Hughes Career Achievement awards are presented annually to an alum of each School and College of the University of San Diego in recognition of his or her extraordinary career achievement. The criteria
for the Author E. Hughes Career Achievement award includes:
The recipients of these awards embody the mission and values of the University of San Diego, and consistently and positively:

Excel in their profession;
- Impact their organization, industry, profession and/or community;
- Personify ethical leadership.
Current members of the USD staff, faculty, administration or Alumni Association Board of Directors are not eligible to receive the Author E. Hughes Career Achievement award.
