Dining

Hi, I'm Ellen from Decatur, IL.  This is Pavilion Dining in the Student Life Pavilion.  Inside you'll find exhibition-style cooking offering fresh a-la-carte breakfast and lunches and unlimited access dinners and weekend brunches.

It features 12 different kinds of cuisine ranging from classic American fare to authentic Vietnamese dishes.

And the Secret Ingredient station, my favorite, which offers live cooking demonstrations with a new ingredient every day.

USD has even won an award for our outstanding food and dining experience.

Upstairs we have Tu Mercado, a full-scale natural foods grocery store offering local and organic produce, dairy, meats, household goods and exclusive USD merchandise

The L'atelier culinary workshop offers gourmet sandwiches, housemade gelato, pastries, smoothies and a full service espresso and tea bar.

Also, every Wednesday on Plaza Menor, local farmers sell fresh, organic produce at the Farmer's Market.

Located next to the SLP in the University Center is La Gran Terraza, a fine dining restaurant overlooking Tecolote Canyon with a beautiful view of Mission Bay.  This dining experience offers guests a variety of options from tapas and upscale entrees, to alumni-owned wines and local micro-brews.  It is a favorite among students, faculty and staff.

Some of our other dining options on campus include Bert's Bistro located in Hill Hall, which features Mexican food, wraps, a salad bar and coffee.

La Paloma, located in the Institute for Peace and Justice, is another popular place to eat. It offers gourmet sandwiches, salads, pasta, and a coffee bar.

Aromas is our award-winning coffee shop located right below the Maher residence hall.  It is a popular place among students to grab a coffee or snack between classes, study or just hang out.  Events are held in Aromas throughout the semester, including Open Mic Nights which feature USD student musicians.

Missions Café is located in the Valley and is convenient to residents of the East end of the campus.  The café features a waffle bar, made-to-order salads, sandwiches, soups, bagels, pastries and frozen yogurt.  Mission Café was the first dining location on campus to offer environmentally-friendly products emphasizing USD's commitment to sustainability

And if you are short on time, USD's new Webfood service for La Paloma allows you to order your food and pay online, skip the lines, pick up and go.  The Webfood service also allows students to order online and have Heirloom pizza from Pavilion Dining delivered late at night anywhere on campus.
