Application Checklist and Deadlines

For a first-year application to be complete, we must have the following:

  • Completed Common Application, including USD Member Questions
  • Official high school transcript
  • Official SAT Reasoning Test (which includes the writing test) or ACT (with the writing test) scores sent directly from the testing service.
  • One academic letter of recommendation from the student's counselor or a teacher who has taught the student in an academic class (form included in Common Application)
  • Essay (see Common Application for topics and details)
  • Application fee of $55.00. Fee waivers are available in cases of financial hardship. Requests must come from a school official and printed on school letterhead or by submitting the College Board fee waiver form.
  • International Applicants - check the International Admissions page for further requirements

Application Deadlines

First-Year Students

Spring 2017

Regular Decision: October 1, 2016

Late Consideration: November 15, 2016

Regular decision applicants will be notified of a decision between mid-November and early-January, 2017. Late consideration applicants, and those with late-arriving transcripts, will be notified of a decision in early January, 2017.

Fall 2017

Regular Decision: December 15, 2016

Late Consideration: February 1, 2017

Regular decision applicants will be notified of a decision beginning February 25, 2017 through April 1, 2017. Late consideration applicants will be considered after all regular decision applicants have been notified of a decision.

Transfer Students

Spring 2017

Regular Decision: October 1, 2016

Late Consideration: December 18, 2016

Regular decision applicants will be notified of a decision between mid-November and early-January, 2017. Late consideration applicants, and those with late-arriving transcripts, will be notified of a decision in early January, 2017.

Fall 2017

Regular Decision: March 1, 2017

Late Consideration: July 8, 2017

Regular decision applicants will be notified of a decision between early April and late June 2017. Late decision applicants will be notified of a decision by the end of July 2017.
