What Makes a Complete Application

Students TalkingFor a freshman application to be complete, we must have the following:

  1. USD application submitted through http://www.princetonreview.com or via the Common Application http://www.commonapp.org. We prefer electronically submitted applications, but if that is not possible, students may submit a paper application found at Applying To USD.
  2. Official high school transcript.
    • For Early Action, we need a transcript reflecting grades 9-11. We encourage applicants to send 7th semester grades when they are available (form included in application).
    • For Regular Action, we need a transcript reflecting grades 9-11 and when available we also need 7th semester grades (form included in application).
  3. Official SAT Reasoning Test (which includes the writing test) or ACT (with the writing test) scores sent directly from the testing service.
    • For Early Action, the tests must be taken in November or earlier.
    • For Regular Action, the test must be taken in December or earlier.
    • SAT II scores are not required for admission.
  4. One academic letter of recommendation (form included in application), preferably from the student's counselor, but if that is not possible, then a teacher recommendation is fine.
  5. Application fee of $55.00. Fee waivers are available if the application fee would cause financial hardship on the student and/or their family. Requests must come from a school official and come be printed on school letterhead.

We strongly recommend that the applicant submit all supporting documents by the application deadline (November 15th for Early Action and January 15th for Regular Action). This is only a recommendation and not required, but it will expedite the processing of his/her application.
