After USD

Our Career Services office offers the advising, resources, and training to help our students locate job and internship openings. In addition, they provide advice and materials on graduate school programs, admissions, and the application process. Students can also take advantage of career workshops, resume review services, self-assessment programs, on-campus interviews, and career day.

Each year, our graduating seniors go out into the world to face ever increasing challenges and opportunities. With the help of the career services office, USD graduates find success in all areas of life and are proud to use their talents and skills to enhance not only their own careers, but their professions.

According to a recent career services survey in 2004, graduating seniors indicated the following plans after first year of graduation (some students are in more than one category):

Full-time Employment: 74 %
Part-time Employment: 5 %
Further Education: 15 %

Students were employed in the following types of industries: Business, Education, Technical, Communications, Government/Military, Non-Profit, Hospitality/Tourism, Sciences/Health, and the Arts. Graduates that reported full-time jobs had an average starting salary of $39,283.

Students pursuing further education were enrolled in the following types of graduate study programs: Natural science (50%), Education (31%), Language/Literature (28%), Social sciences (18%), Humanities (17%), and Business (12%). There were several students pursuing studies in more than one program. Nearly 74% of the students indicated that they would pursue further formalized education within the next five years.
