Mailings to Expect
An Invitation to Chat with Us:
In addition to visiting our campus, there is another exciting way to learn more about USD. You and other admitted students will be invited to join current USD students, admission counselors, professors and others to chat about USD via our Admissions Web site. Invitations to the chat will be sent via email, so be sure to check your account. This is a great way to get your questions answered in the relaxed environment of a chat room. Please be sure to keep us posted with your most current email address.
From the Office of Financial Aid:
If you applied for need-based financial aid and met the priority deadline, you will receive notice from Financial Aid shortly. Upon receipt of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) analysis from the processor, the Office of Financial Aid will initiate the award process. Please respond in a timely manner to any requests for additional information so that an aid award can be sent to you as soon as possible. The financial aid offer letter will be sent via the e-mail address you have provided. Thus, please be sure to update us with your current e-mail address. Please make sure your spam email folder or blocker allows this type of email to come through.
Housing and Meal Plans:
New students will register for on-campus housing online in June via the Housing Portal website. Please see the housing and residence life web pages for more information about the various living options and meal plans.
Class Registration:
Information regarding registering for classes will be mailed to students after receipt of their enrollment deposit, beginning in late May. A freshman advising questionnaire will be mailed, which includes information about courses and schedules. Completing this questionnaire begins the registration process and the matching of students to an academic advisor.
Student Health Center:
USD is committed to creating a safe environment for its students. To achieve that goal, the University has recently instituted a policy requiring all new students to submit verification for meeting these requirements. Registration holds may be placed on students who do not comply.
A letter from the Director of the Student Health Center, as well as the Student Immunization Record Form are mailed to all freshmen and transfer students upon receipt of their deposit by Admissions. The record must be completed and verified by the student’s medical provider and is to be mailed directly to the Student Health Center (using the enclosed envelope included in the deposit acknowledgement packet) by the deadline to insure that the student’s registration for the following semester will not be held up.

Payment Plans:
USD offers a number of payment plans, and specific information about how to participate will be sent shortly. Specific costs for meal plans, housing options, and tuition will be included.
Orientation/Move-In Dates:
To help you settle in and become acclimated to our community, USD has an extensive New Student Orientation program, called Torero Days. Orientation and move-in will begin on Saturday, August 29, 2009. A separate mailing with detailed information will be sent in July to all students who completed the enrollment confirmation process. Classes for the fall semester begin on Wednesday, September 2, 2009.
The Office of Student Affairs is responsible for coordinating student orientation. You can obtain more information about past orientation programs at the Student Affairs Web site.
