What to Bring and Expect

What to bring and what to expect when staying overnight

Section Banner

As an overnight guest, you will be staying in one of our residence halls with a current student. Please note the following:

  1. Please bring a sleeping bag, pillow, towel, toiletries, and a change of clothes. Casual, comfortable clothing is recommended. Since your host may not have an extra mattress, you will need to be prepared to sleep on the floor. If you are flying to San Diego and would like to rent a sleeping bag and/or pad for your stay, please click here for more information.

  2. The Office of Undergraduate Admissions is happy to provide your lodging and up to three meals (dinner your first day, and breakfast and lunch the following day). You need only pay for transportation costs and bring a little spending money in case you discover the Bookstore or want snacks.

  3. Please plan to spend your entire visit with your host. It is important that you do not leave campus during your stay. Feel free to bring books for studying.

  4. USD is not responsible for personal property, which may be damaged, lost, or stolen, or for students who leave campus. Guests are expected to abide by all USD policies and state laws. (Please read Student Rules and Regulations)
