Due to the popularity of this event, there are several options available for the student:
Option #1: Overnight Visit
An overnight visit is an in-depth, 24-hour stay with a student host. Each guest will be matched with a current USD student who will serve as his or her host for the visit. Guests will have the opportunity to attend classes, eat in the dining facilities, and take part in social activities on campus. Meals will be provided for student guests starting with dinner on the day of arrival; breakfast and lunch will be provided on the following day before departure. Parents are invited to stay for dinner on Thursday night, and to attend the Closing Luncheon the following day.
Guests are expected to provide their own sleeping gear (i.e. sleeping bag, pillow, toiletries, etc.) while they experience a typical night in our residence halls. A limited quantity of sleeping bags and/or sleeping pads are available to rent for your visit. Check out your options.
- The fee for an overnight visit is $10.00 and is non-refundable.
- For the Closing Luncheon, each student will be allowed one guest.
- Acceptable payments include cash or check (made out to "USD")
Option #2: Thursday and Friday Day Portion
This option provides the student the ability to attend all the activities as well as meals, but they must find their own accommodations for that evening. The student will not be matched with a student host, therefore attending classes on Friday will be on their own. The standard program fee applies. Dinner and breakfast are included with this visit.
Option #3: Friday Day Only
This option provides the student the ability to attend classes on Friday on their own, as well as attend the administrative panel and luncheon. The standard program fee applies. Breakfast is not included with this visit.
Due to limited space, please make your reservation early.
We also have other day and overnight visits for all admitted students which are not specifically geared toward the Honors Program. Due to limited space, we ask that admitted students only register for one overnight program. To ensure a spot, please make your reservation early.
We are sorry but we are unable to entertain special overnight visit requests on any other dates.
PLEASE DO NOT MAKE TRAVEL PLANS until you have received a confirmation from us.
